Ruby E. Stephens research

plants, bees, flowers, pollination, ecology, evolution

Broadly, I'm interested in research that deepens our understanding of the world around us. My research to date has focussed on bees, plants and pollination, and I have worked in applied ecosystem conservation and restoration.

I like to test common assumptions or long-observed patterns with high-quality, large-scale data and analyses, and ground-truth these tests with observations in the field. I believe in open science and enjoy making my workflows as reproducible as possible.

I'm very committed to communicating my science, both in rigorous published papers and in more accessible mediums such as radio interviews, news articles, public talks - even stand-up comedy!

My hope is always to inspire people’s connection to and care for the natural world, by uncovering the fascinating interactions and processes that shape our planet.
